KEEPING TO ITS POLICY OF SECRECY AT ALL COSTS, police forces around the country disclose little information about their activities unless enquirers force them to do so under freedom of information laws.

So it was that the Sun Herald newspaper had to make the application under freedom of information laws to find out what the Australian Federal Police spent at their Scotch College, according to the 24 October edition.

Their expenditure included

$7,400 on a home theatre system $6600 on street theatre $23,000 for beanies a yacht (price unknown) $72,000 paid to luxury car manufacturer BMW.

An AFP spokesperson, Kai Ianssen, refused to give any further details, including how the items bought with public money were related to police business.

STREET BRAWLING QUEENSLAND COPPERS have come under attack for using excessive force outside a Brisbane nightclub on the evening of October 23.

Twenty-seven men and women were arrested outside the Underground Nightclub, Edward St.

As often happens in these situations, the boys and girls in blue got carried away and sprayed everyone in sight with pepper spray.

'Some people were just trying to run past and just got caught up in it and just got dragged in and sprayed and thrown into the watch tower,' said one witness.

'They were bashing anyone with the bats, they even grabbed this other guy that was waiting for a taxi they sprayed him and then they started bashing him and then they arrested him.'

Police Superintendent Tonya Carew says her officers acted appropriately.

'I tell my staff to use capsicum spray,' she said.

YOUSE ARE FUCKED said a man to police officers through the window of a police car, according to media reports on 22 October 2005.

Rather than the police officers responding with professionalism and ignoring the man, they arrested him - like the big kids that they are. After being acquitted of 'offensive language' by the Magistrate who said that the word fuck is expected to be heard late at night in Sydney, the police are now using taxpayers money to appeal the matter to a higher court.

Rufus Richardson, a 27-year-old Canberra student, was awarded $2,600 for legal costs.

The Magistrate said it was difficult to find swearing an offence in relation to community standards, because she was 'not sure there is such a thing as community standards anymore.'

NO DOUBT THE TIP OF THE ICEBURG, Northern Territory Police has spent more than 80,000 hours secretly spying on people last financial year.

The figure is quoted in the October 27 Northern Territory News, after figures were tabled in the NT Parliament saying that they spent 3,895 days conducting surveillance.

The breakdown included

35 applications for a tracking device 26 for listening bugs 16 for filming.

No warrant applications were refused.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Crime Command George Owen refused to comment about the upsurge in the use of electronic surveillance when contacted by the Northern Territory News.

The Community will keep an eye out for police violence while they are having fun demonstrating and protesting the Global Forbes conference today.

The community are warning the police that they will not tolerate any violence from them or the bullies in their ranks and have set up a task force to alert protestors to the tactics of undercover police infiltrators put into the crowd to incite violence.

Task Force Harm is a group of dedicated community members who will be placed in strategic locations with cameras and mobile phones to spot the trouble and relay the message to those protestors who are just having fun and peacefully demonstrating.

File footage will also be made available to any of those people wrongfully abused, brutalised or arrested by police and a special eye will be out for the ringleaders in police ranks who incite other police to be violent during the demonstration.

Acting Deputy Clown Bobbo, says any police causing trouble will face consequences.

"We will take photos of police with our camera's regardless of rank in regard to if they are [unlawful] in their attack on any protestors," he said.

"I make no apology for the fact that if police are breaking the law and are disrupting the protest, we will deal with it, we will take them to court and deal with them appropriately."

NSW Premier Morris Iemma has defended the decision to devote hundreds of police officers to the event.

Sydney protestors reach agreement with police

Organisers of the 30A Protest, planned to coincide with this weeks Forbes Global CEO Conference, have reached an agreement with police about how the protest should proceed. The 30A Network has received permission to use the Customs Square area of Circular Quay.

They shot him twice in the legs but he still kept coming. So they killed him? 7 Sunrise interview witness at the scene.

The New South Wales Police Minister, John Watkins, says an independent investigation will be held into a fatal shooting by police in south-western Sydney last night. [?]

Police say they shot a man after he lunged at them with a knife at Greenacre.

Police were called to the scene of a fire in a unit on Waterloo Rd at around 7:20pm AEDT yesterday.

On arrival they found a 38-year-old man threatening fire officers with a 15-centimetre long knife.

Police say several witnesses saw them ask the man to drop the knife several times before using capsicum spray on him.

When he moved towards them they shot him several times in the torso.

But an independent witness claimed on CH/7 this morning, "They shot him twice in the legs. Then they shot him twice in the chest".

He later died in Bankstown Hospital.

The officers involved were taken to Bankstown police station for drug and alcohol testing.

Speaking at the scene last night, Superintendent Mick Plotecki called on any further witnesses to help with the investigation.

"We're doing a canvas of the area as we speak and we're looking on all the people in the area that have witnessed this to come forward so we can get what information they can provide," he said.

A critical incident team is now conducting an independent investigation?

Mr Watkins says a full police investigation has begun into the shooting and he will receive a briefing from police on the incident later today.

The internal investigation will be conducted by police from adjoining commands and the findings sent to the coroner?

Trust us we know best?

Mr Watkins has urged the public not to prejudge the outcome?

"The standard practice in these serious incidents is for officers from adjoining commands to come in and carry out that investigation to ensure that all proper procedures were followed," he said.

Dr. Chadbourne sacked by Peter Ryan and more specifically in my view because he elected deputy commissioners Dave Madden and Andrew Scipione as the best men in the service in relation to his qualifications to make a recommendation in his capacity as human resources.That is if you believe that a Dr. can be corrupted.

Honesty
What is happening between the Police Service and politics is quite extraordinary at the moment. If stand over tactics don't work tell half the truth honestly and follow the example of sheep. Another word for it is sleaze, yeah. Another word for it is workplace harassment. Another word for it is bribing a Police Officer. Another word for it is misleading Parliament.

The promotion of law and order means money to big business. Profits from insurance, security fixtures, patrol services and the like can only continue to grow if the perceived threat of uncontrollable crime wave escalates. What is happening between the Police Service and politics is quite extraordinary at the moment. If stand over tactics don't work tell half the truth honestly and follow the example of sheep. Another word for it is sleaze, yeah. Another word for it is workplace harassment. Another word for it is bribing a Police Officer. Another word for it is misleading Parliament.

Interesting how a member of the Police Board Mr. Tim Priest would hold grave fears for his safety from dangerous senior police but fails to name them or have them sacked. Rather Priest resigns as if he had no powers. Could that mean what he was saying is that the Governments are also corrupt?
