NSW Police! Soothsayers or slayers? Strategy part 3 Permit denial

Don't be angry just know in your heart that this is the third stage of the strategy planned by politicians and therefore police.

Part one: Raise the fears by advertising that they have information about violence at the planned march.

Part two: Wind up the demonstrators and trick the kids. Confinement usually does it with a few smirks and a clip around the ear because people are seen as leaders.

Part three: Refuse to grant a permit for another planned march because they manipulated the populist view. How? By exploiting your argument and eroding the public's confidence in peaceful demonstrations and by using the media to tell their lies, then using that as a weapon against peace.

Lets see the police arrest and charge 10,000 people at the next peace march because that would only draw support against the war on Iraq.

Anti-war protest organisers in Sydney say they are outraged that police have refused to grant a permit for a planned march next week.

Police have denied the permit after violent clashes at a student rally in the city earlier in the week.

Simon Butler from the Books not Bombs coalition which organised the rally, says they will be going ahead with next week's march regardless.

"We ask the police to respect our rights to do that," he said. "Of course there's going to be an anti-war protest, but this is a very, very bad precedent that the police are trying to set to take away the democratic rights of people to protest."

The organisers are currently seeking legal advice over whether police have the power to ban the march.

Boat people and John Howard don't have anything in common because John Howard can't put himself in the same boat and that's the problem. Howard never once stopped to think about having his son or daughter or family member under a bomb to fix the problem in Iraq or he would never have joined the coalition of pre-emptive terrorists wagging war on innocent people.

War: Part one The human cost
On the road to Basra, ITV was filming wild dogs as they tore at the corpses of the Iraqi dead. Every few seconds a ravenous beast would rip off a decaying arm and make off with it over the desert in front of us, dead fingers trailing through the sand, the remains of the burned military sleeve flapping in the wind. "Just for the record,'' the cameraman said to me. Of course. Because ITV would never show such footage.
