AUSTRALIA'S involvement in the war in Iraq may have increased the terror threat at home and in the Middle East, ASIO chief Dennis Richardson said yesterday.
In parallel to Richardson's statement last week NSW Premier Bob Carr Introduced this legislation into NSW Parliament.

Mr Richardson, the director-general of security at 'the nation's flop spy agency', told the Sydney Institute the Iraq war had been a useful propaganda tool for terror group al-Qaeda, helping it recruit many new followers.
"Iraq has provided al-Qaeda with propaganda and recruitment opportunities and it only stands to reason that they would have some success," he said.
"It has provided another justification or rationalisation for acts of terrorism.
[But the Iraq war was an act of terrorism and also provided Mr Richardson the "terrorist" director-general of security at the nation's flop spy agency the very same and perhaps better useful propaganda tools for terror group George Bush and the gang of 3 BUSH, BLAIR AND HOWARD. Wanted for pre-war plans, pre-emptive attacks on the Sovereign Nation States of Afghanistan and Iraq, subsequent occupations, genocide, maiming, rendition and torture.]
The Federal Government insists the Iraq war has not increased the risk of terrorism in Australia, saying the Bali bombings, which killed 88 Australians, occurred before troops went committed to Iraq.
[That's exactly the point though, as all these people said no to war with protests:
[Allegedly], Australian Federal Police commissioner Mick Keelty was forced to withdraw remarks earlier this year suggesting Australia could be more of a terror target because of Iraq.
[Allegedly], Mr Keelty made his comments after the deadly Madrid bombings in March, which were linked to Spain's involvement in the war.
[Another staged false flag attack and a call to arms fear mongering the Spanish to attack Iraq.]
Mr Richardson has generally backed the Government line that war on Iraq had not increased the threat of terrorist attack for Australia.

While saying the formal threat level in Australia had not risen, [Mr Richardson left open the possibility that war may have motivated Islamic extremists in Australia who wanted to do harm.]

[What do we make of Richardson's statement? First he gives us a concession that is ' he agrees with the community that, when you illegally go to war on a sovereign nation someone might come back to hit you on the head for being ignorant'. But that information from supposed ' nations top spy agency is antiquated and academic. In short old news to gather support to invade your home, plant evidence and make claims about new terrorist suspects! And of course what a diligent spy agency we have?]

Richardson: "It's easy to get so caught up in the debate about Iraq you overlook the simple fact that al-Qaeda's intent and purpose was marked out long before Iraq and long before 9/11," he said.

"In the context of global terrorism, the real potential downside would be in the US-led coalition losing its resolve and drifting away,"? he said. "That would embolden militant Islamists globally and could lead to the establishment in parts of Iraq of Afghanistan-type safe havens for terrorists in which training and other rebuilding could occur unhindered. At this stage, in my view, we have more to lose if the US-led coalition gives up then if it stays with the proper resourcing and commitment."?
