Making a mountain out of a molehill

Community condemns 'propaganda' spin on Embassy letter.

The Community says it will not be swayed by what it has called an "act of propaganda" by the Australian Government after the delivery of an alleged 'potentially' hazardous parcel to the Indonesian embassy in Canberra.

Blown out of all proportion

Prime Minister John HoWARd says the substance was not benign and sending it was an act of reckless indifference to human life. He says tests have shown the white powder sent to the embassy is a bacteria belonging to the 'bacillus group', the family which also contains the anthrax bacteria.

Isolated

Staff at the embassy have been isolated, with further tests being done on the powder.

But the ACT's chief health officer, Charles Guest, says it is highly unlikely the substance involved is dangerous.

"The powder has been tested," he said. "It contained some bacteria.

"Now, bacteria are everywhere in the universe so it's not particularly significant.

Which means this could have easily just have been a potentially harmless prank and actually it was more likely than not the later yet John HoWARd, Alexander Downer, and Stupid what's his name? Kim Beazely (the well paid loser) all stood up on their high haunches alarming the general public like it was a terrorist attack?

All three of them seem overwhelmingly all too willing to embrace terror for their political posturing which would validate the cost of the biological equipment and the extreme measures taken by emergency services (at a cost of God knows how much) otherwise that equipment would just sit there in mothballs unless something validates it, even if they have to make it up?

Ignition

This also promotes a fear and additional security measures that impact on our human rights and freedoms like the Anti-Terrorist Act etc.

Blast off

It also promotes HoWARd's War campaign with excuses to spend even more on defence and on military hardware.

Projecting fear into the community

HoWARd has also called on Indonesians not to react to the incident after he reacted to it? The news from Canberra has dominated Indonesian press and television reports?

Parliamentarian Joko Sisilo, who sits on Indonesia's House Foreign Affairs Committee, says Indonesia should now issue travel warnings for Australia.

He says the attack proves Australians are capable of committing their own acts of terrorism.

But he is wrong! Actually it proves the Australian Government and its pro-government media allies are all to willing to blow things out of all proportion making ' Mountains out of Molehills', more like it!

The spokesman for the Indonesian Foreign Ministry in Jakarta, Marty Natalagewa, says the incident underlines the need for responsibility in reaction to the Schapelle Corby case.

"If any good perhaps comes out of this latest sorry incident, it's perhaps it works as some kind of like an alarm bell to those who have been whipping up public emotions," he said.

Mr Natalagewa says the attack would not force changes to Indonesia's presence in Canberra.

Tests propaganda

ABC: "Meanwhile, tests on the white powder sent to the Indonesian embassy in an envelope could be completed by today.

It is already known to be a bacteria that is present in a range of products from snail pellets to anthrax."

[Why not any product from your local pharmacy or hardware store?]

ABC: "Australian officials are waiting for a translation of a note sent with the white powder to determine the motives of the attack.

Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer has said that at this stage the Federal Government cannot confirm if the threat is related to last week's jailing of Schapelle Corby in Bali.

"There was a note in Bahasa ....that's the Indonesian language - we haven't got a translation yet and obviously that will come to us fairly soon," he said.

"We understand that the parcel was sent from Victoria.

"We can't at this stage say if it was directly related to the Schapelle Corby case."

HoWARd says he now wants to wait for the test results.

"The analysis is going on and when we know the outcome of that then something further will be said," he said.

"Plainly it's not just a case of some white powder being sent - whoever sent it had a more evil intent than that."

Mr Howard says the incident will damage relations between the two countries and condemned the action.

Federal Opposition Leader Kim Beazley [a well paid loser] has described it as an act by evil cowards.

"If it is connected to debate and the issues around Schapelle Corby's case, it will deal it a body blow," he said."

Australian Community Newspoll

WATCH THE BIRDIE?

We ask the question which party will you vote for this Federal Election?

1. THE GREENS, 2 THE DEMOCRATS, 3 THE SOCIALIST ALLIANCE

Oh! Did I forget a party or two? Well perhaps not! If Ch/9's Sunday program can pose the same question asking its viewers to choose between two other parties not listed above then I guess we can do the same? But that wouldn't be fair! So if you get the time here is another party to choose from:

4. LIB/LAB

Ch/7 Sunrise Announces 'No Spin Day'?

This morning I awoke to the news that Ch/7 was having a no spin day! Well that would be a change for the books but I didn't believe them aye. So just to inform you about what is happening 'without the spin' really, then let's start with this news of the day.

The Democrats are to launch an Indigenous policy!

The Australian Democrats will unveil their Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation Policy in Alice Springs this afternoon. Party leader Andrew Bartlett and the only indigenous member of Federal Parliament, Aden Ridgeway, will attend the launch. Mr Ridgeway says the Democrats are travelling to the centre of Australia to highlight a central issue for the country. They will also launch the party's lead Senate candidate for the Territory, Janeen Bulsey.

The Australian Greens have launched their television advertisement, highlighting the minor party's policy of banning corporate donations to political parties. The ad has been posted on a website which allows voters to access details of donations received by political parties over the past four years.

It will also be run in regional and metropolitan areas closer to polling day. Greens Senator Kerry Nettle says the party's ethical stance on political donations is popular with voters. "Every time we raise these issues and as Greens are out campaigning on those issues the response that we get from the community is incredible.. The concern that people have about the sort of influence as well as our concern for democracy, is why we are committed to campaigning on these issues and have been for many years,"she said.

Speaking about democracy, war criminal, Prime Minister 'Scumbo' Howard has used comments by the Greens Leader Bob Brown to claim Labor's policies are heavily influenced by the minor party.

But the Opposition Leader denies he has been swayed by the Greens.

Bob Brown said yesterday he takes some credit for Labor's plan to withdraw Australian troops, [? militants], from Iraq by Christmas. "I think we've had some influence on Labor," he said.

The Prime Minister spent last week warning voters about the Greens describing its policies as "kooky" but that's means "flexible" and a lot better than Scumbo's "fear" and "lies" policies. He seized on Bob Brown's comments to claim Labor is bending to get Green preferences.

"The Greens are not just about warmly and fuzzily hugging trees. We all believe in that but the Greens are about a lot of other things and already they're claiming their first victory in terms of influencing Labor, "he said.

But at least you can believe what the Greens say which is more than anyone can say for the neo-Liberals.

Mark Latham says John Howard's claim is untrue.

Senator Brown says the Greens could influence more policy if it won the balance of power in the Senate.

Mark Latham says the Prime Minister is trying to dodge a proper election debate with his demand for a change in format.

Mark Latham and John Howard continue to disagree over how the debate should be run. Howard has agreed to just one confrontation with Mr Latham during the campaign. It will be held next Sunday night, with a new addition of a panel of press gallery journalists asking questions. "I think it's time for a bit of a change, I think the earlier format was getting a bit...worn out," Howard said.

But the Labor Leader rejects those terms, saying it will turn the event into an "extended media conference". "Why do we need the media moderators and mediators in the middle of it?. "The real debate is one-on-one and that is the thing the Prime Minister is trying to dodge next Sunday nigh,"he said.

And what about the community asking questions? The journalists are naturally bias towards the minor parties and ask dumb questions that feed into the policies of both parties. Prime Minister 'Scumbo' has again rejected Mr Latham's bid for a community forum debate where the public could ask their own questions.

Like the 56 Australian doctors condemning his Government's decision to join the war in Iraq.

The open letter calls Australia's role in Iraq a tragic mistake and accuses the Howard Government of taking Australia to war on false and misleading grounds. Dr Gillian Deakin, from the Medical Association for Prevention of War, says the action stemmed from a collective conscience. "Warfare is no longer, in the 21st Century an acceptable practice. It should be seen that our troops, [? militants], are only used for the defence of Australia and never in acts of aggression,"she said.

War criminal, Alexander Downer has suggested those who signed the document share a minority view. But Greens leader Bob Brown says the Prime Minister must take notice of the doctors' concerns.

He is accusing Howard of not listening widely enough to community groups.

"Unfortunately, I don't think our Prime Minister's got a listening ear. It doesn't matter whether it's the churches, whether it's the unions, whether it's eminent professionals, if Prime Minister Howard thinks he's right and they're wrong, then he does it,"he said.

Labor's health spokesperson, Julia Gillard, says, "The eminent Australians who came out a few weeks ago were quickly dismissed as 'doddery daiquiri diplomats' I would expect something equally stupid and cruel to be said about these doctors, " she said.

The MAPW was founded in 1981 and is the Australian affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985.

So lets knock the journalists asking questions out of the debate and add to it "the 47 eminent Australians" who came out a few weeks ago and the "Medical Association for Prevention of War".

Written and authorised by the community.

Research points to corporate journalists alcohol-schizophrenia link

Satire:

Cocktail anyone? Or would you prefer a reefer?

New research has revealed more evidence of a link between corporate media journalists and schizophrenia. A national conference beginning in Melbourne today will examine international studies about the issue.

Professor David King from the University of Melbourne says there is already evidence showing some readers can become psychotic when they read spin from prominent mainstream corporate media journalist's especially when they blatantly lie.

He says the latest research in Australia shows if people with particular vulnerabilities read the Daily Telegraph, or The Australian Newspaper, it can trigger more serious problems because their corporate journalists spin more lies more often.

"The debate is whether if those people with those vulnerabilities do never read spin from corporate media journalists, who have blatantly lied, they might never become psychotic or never develop schizophrenia, when those readers find out the truth," he said.

"and it's thought that probably from the literature now that maybe about one in 20 people with schizophrenia or about 5 per cent of them, might never become psychotic if they had never read corporate media spin that contained blatant lies."

However, Professor King also believes corporate media journalists who provide open and honest reading material are a valuable resource to the general community.

He warned articles from the Daily Telegraph and the Australian newspapers were potentially dangerous and should not be read because these corporations use spin and blatant lies more often and have the potential to cause psychosis when readers find out the truth.

"From the medical point of view, I believe that it's really important that the potential medicinal value of the truth is not lost through mainstream corporate media journalists who use spin and blatantly lie. There's a real danger for readers becoming 'shocked' when they find out the truth, because lying happens to be an illicit substance," he said.

THE DOG: So don't believe everything you read because there are more mental problems caused by 'alcohol' than any other substance but if the truth be known only '1 per cent' of Marijuana users get psychosis.

The truth about this article is that marijuana is worth destructing more often by corporate media journalists because there's no tax revenue on the 'herb'.

Fact: Alcohol is legal and 100 times more dangerous than marijuana and more likely to cause mental illness including psychosis, that's why they call it 'mad man's broth'.

CWA wants pot legalised
PERCEIVED as the height of conservatism, the Country Women's Association has had a reputation for baking and handicrafts until now. Mahathir offers to go out with a bang

Journalists in Malaysia, soon to be bereft of a prime minister who makes news almost every time he opens his mouth, were apparently disappointed by Mahathir Mohamad's last parliamentary appearance.

At a news conference afterwards, he was asked why his performance had been so "quiet". Always willing to oblige, Dr Mahathir replied: "You can make it loud. I can go out with a bang if you want, I can say nasty things. "Ask me a nasty question, I will give you a nasty answer." Nobody did, presumably having had enough of the international uproar over his recent criticism of Jews.

Instead, the man who has ruled Malaysia for the past 22 years was asked what advice he had for reporters ahead of his retirement tomorrow.

"Report the truth even if it is bad. Don't be a spin doctor, don't distort news, don't have your own agenda," he said.Dr Mahathir has claimed repeatedly that his remark at an Islamic summit in mid-October that Jews rule the world was taken out of context.

A STRUGGLE ON TWO FRONTS: PRISONS & IMPERIALIST WAR
After a war waged by the U.S. military against Vietnam which took the lives of more than 3 million Vietnamese people and more than 58,000 GIs, the U.S. finally withdrew in 1975. It had suffered its first official major military defeat by a united people struggle led by the Vietnamese, along with a mass U.S. anti-war movement.

Greens move to end prayers in NSW Parliament but do they just need confession?

The New South Wales Greens are seeking to remove Christian prayers [religious bondage] from being read at the beginning of each day the state's Parliament sits.

In any case Parliament just needs a confessional box.
What is politically correct for confession? At the moment, spin. Perhaps what we need is to spin a winner?

Perhaps leaders who are sincere, and prepared to lead by example, instead of telling lies would be a great start?

The motion will be introduced and debated today at the start of this year's final session, which could be this years final confession.

Greens MP Lee Rhiannon says there are increasing numbers of New South Wales residents who do not support the Christian faith, and Parliament should reflect it.

THE EMPIRE OF "THE CITY" (World Superstate) part 2

Instead Parliament reflects lies and that's the devil talking to our children and what's worse, they expect our children to believe them, and because no one does anything, then they continually allow them to lie, not just to us but to our children.

So what are the children going to do now? Lie because it is politically correct?

Ms Riannon says a non-denominational prayer would be more appropriate. "Parliament should represent all the people of New South Wales and that cannot be achieved while we have a narrow-based Christian prayer," she said.

"All people, irrespective of their belief system, have a right to be recognised and included in the parliamentary processes."

[Actually we'd all be better off without religious bondage. Having a mentor that leads by some form of example is fine but the 'Universe' is the highest power because mentors can be changed from time to time depending on how they lead.]

Friedrich Nietzsche and his philosophy of the Superman "When God died he left a little bit of himself in everybody." Now what do you want to be?

In essence the prayer is actually the same for everyone reaching for a higher power. Yes higher than Bob Carr, John Howard or George Bush.

The thought that Bob Carr, John Howard or George Bush are the highest power is overwhelming to most New South Wales residents. So if it is not God we prayed to then who? The Universe the highest power.

The Greeks say if you don't tell the truth you just disappear. Or do the liars just disappear? How can we get parliaments in Australia to tell the truth, and go to confession?

Presumption of innocence. A hallowed principle of criminal law to the effect that the government has the burden of proving every element of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt and that the defendant has no burden to prove his innocence.
