US-backed Iraqi militants have killed 15 resistance fighters in a blistering shootout north of Baghdad.The US military said insurgents, [? resistance], opened fire on Iraqi, [US puppet], security forces, [militants], as they provided security, [defence], for the 1st Infantry Division during a raid in a nearby farming area.
"Iraqi security forces, [US puppet militants], pursued the anti-Iraqi forces, [resistance], into town while being attacked by sporadic small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades," Major Neal O'Brien said.
He says US forces, [? militants], provided air and ground support as Iraqi forces, [? US puppet militants], battled the insurgents, [? resistance], who "fired mortars indiscriminately" into the town.
[Indiscriminately against pre-emptive strikes, occupation and genocide.]
The main hospital in Baquba says it received one body and nine wounded from the clashes near Buhruz, just south of the city.
The fight left palm and pomegranate groves smouldering.
A body, said to be a civilian, was buried as masked men carried machine-guns and rocket-propelled grenades, shouting anti-Iraqi Government, [US puppets], and anti-US slogans.
The bloodshed came hours after the US military arrested 15 people near Baquba at dawn on suspicion of ties to alleged, [US fictional demon], Al Qaeda operative Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi.
