Public wants accountability: Latham

Federal Opposition Leader Mark Latham says the Prime Minister needs to take responsibility for what he has said to the Australian public.

Earlier today Howard responded to a list of alleged lies that Labor says he has told during his time in office.

The Opposition released a document on the weekend titled Truth Overboard outlining 27 alleged lies.

Howard says the Labor document is rubbish and he has issued a 12-page response outlining why, saying he is entitled to change position on issues.

Mr Latham says the public wants accountability.

"These are matters on the public record where he hasn't told truth and he needs to take responsibility for that," he said.

"If you think the Prime Minister hasn't been telling the truth well then go and talk to the 43 eminent Australians who said we need truth in government as one of our fundamental principles."

Australian Federal Government complicity in war crimes
