Chomsky signs on for justice

Noam Chomsky has signed the Justice for Jack campaign petition which calls on the Australian Attorney General Philip Ruddock and Director of Public Prosecutions to "drop any charges reliant on records of interviews conducted under duress without the presence of a lawyer."

In a short statement he said, "The actions of the Australian government in pursuing suggest that they are willing to trample on basic civil and human rights in the name of the 'war on terror'. Australians should be alarmed."

For five months in 2003, Jack Thomas was held in a Pakistan military prison where he was tortured by the CIA and the Pakistan Secret Service. Jack was returned to Australia without being charged. Seventeen months later he was arrested on November 18, 2004 by Australian Federal Police and charged with receiving funds from a terrorist organisation, providing support to a terrorist organisation and traveling on a false passport.

Jack was held for three months in solitary confinement in Barwon Prison, near Gellong Victoria in conditions that Liberty Victoria say were in breach of his human rights. Fortunately, Jack was released on bail on February 15. Since his re-incarceration, Jack has been receiving treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and depressive anxiety.

Jack's family and the justice for Jack campaign believe that the case against Jack is a political exercise of the Australian government who are desperate to set precedents and make examples of people, regardless of whether they pose an actual threat to society, in their so-called "war on terror".

If convicted Jack faces a possible sentence of 55 years and it would set a precedent which may see others deprived of their right a lawyer or charged using evidence obtained under torture.

To protect these rights, we are seeking the broadest possible support for our campaign, so if you are concerned about the erosion of our civil liberties and the political victimisation of people like my brother Jack, download the petition from our website and send them in to:

Justice for Jack Campaign, c/- 1/ 85 Paisley St , Footscray 3011 VIC, Australia.

DING DONG! THE WITCH IS DEAD

A court has been told Joseph Thomas, is a sleeper. [?] ZZZ!

Melbourne Australia: A court has been told that, [US demon], Osama bin Laden asked a Melbourne man to become a "sleeper" in Australia before undertaking activities for the Al Qaeda network. [?]

Munchkins: "Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch! Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead."

A bail application has begun for Joseph Terrance Thomas, 31, of Werribee, who is charged with receiving funds from and supporting the Al Qaeda terrorism network, as well as possessing a false passport.

Munchkins: "Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed."

Perhaps he may have had a false passport but why lie about the rest?

Why not charge him with having a false passport?

Where does the demon witch come from on a truth scale between 1-10? 1? Unless there is any concrete evidence?

Munchkins: "Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. She's gone where the goblins go, below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out."

A prosecutor has told the Melbourne Magistrates Court, Thomas trained at Al Qaeda's Al Farouk camp in Afghanistan in 2001 where he saw bin Laden. [?]

Munchkins: "Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low. Let them know. The Wicked Witch is dead!"

Did he see bin Laden with his own eyes? Did he try and cut him in half with a saw? Or did they have lunch together with George Dubya Bush and the CIA?

Laughable? But not if you're isolated in a prisons cell based on superstition.

Mayor: "As Mayor of the Munchkin City, In the County of the Land of Oz, I welcome you most regally."

Barrister: "But we've got to verify it legally, to see."

Mayor: To see?

Barrister: "If she"

Mayor: "If she?"

Barrister: "Is morally, ethic'lly."

Father No.1: "Spiritually, physically."

Father No. 2: "Positively, absolutely."

The court was told he took part in terrorism discussions, including a plan to bring down a jet carrying the Pakistani President. [?]

Munchkins: "Undeniably and reliably Dead?"

Now Australia is upholding Pakistani law even though Pakistan let him go home? Perhaps Pakistan sends its criminals to Australia to be processed now? Haven't they got a court in Pakistan?

Would you believe a Pakistani court?

Coroner: "As Coroner I must aver, I thoroughly examined her. And she's not only merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead."

The prosecutor said Thomas was asked by bin Laden, through an associate, to return to Australia to do work for Al Qaeda including looking at military operations. [?]

In the War on Witches, up to a million people were cruelly tortured and executed. But, as even a ten-year-old child could tell you today, just by basic reasoning, there were no witches in medieval Europe. None.

The court was told Thomas was to maintain a normal lifestyle before contacting Al Qaeda. [?]

Like everyone else's normal lifestyle? Before he did what? The US couldn't even find bin Laden how was it that Thomas had the inside story that would have been worth a good news story? Very convincing?

Mayor: "Then this is a day of Independence For all the Munchkins and their descendants."

Barrister: "If any."

Mayor: Yes, let the joyous news be spread. The wicked Old Witch at last is dead!

The bail hearing continues.

Support group investigations
The Australian Federal Police and ASIO are believed to be investigating support groups in Australia specifically support groups operating out of Western Australia.

Keep the bastards honest: Publicity keeps an eye on ethics?
The Australian Federal Police commissioner says investigations into terrorist links to Australia are being made more difficult by public debate about the progress of inquiries.

Australian Terror cell here long before Bali
Australia was alerted to Jemaah Islamiah, but did not consider it a prime threat, because it was a fallacy writes GI Joe April 22 03.

State terror units caused the terror!
The level of suspicion and surveillance created by the [US false flag operation and call to arms] Bali bombings, created by [ the Coalition of the Killing and Australian's complicity to go to war on Iraq] means that all Australian's suffer the loss of their human rights, civil rights and their democratic rights, as well as those Australian's who lost their life in Bali.

Al-Qa'ida or poor people without hope?
Anyone contemplating war without a UN sanction is nothing more than a common criminal and not acting in accordance with the law. Isn't Richardson the head of ASIO? A law enforcement agency? Al-Qa'ida is a Coalition of the Killing demon made up by the CIA. These people are just scapegoats, patsies, and peasants."

Doom gloom and 'Boom' Downer shakes the room?
"Optimism is better and so is 'constructive feedback' because using constructive feedback means that the negatives also have a role in the construction of a nation. In short we have all the time in world to solve problems properly and that is what our leaders should be focusing on when they decide to inform all Australians. Hey what's the rush?" He said.

Hypocrisy not Democracy? No Blood for Oil!
Howard has refused to back down on the threat of war despite hundreds of thousands of Australians rallying against it. The question is why?

Red paper classes Australia as terrorist suspects
Australia's old foreign policy red paper says Australians have become targets because their own government is being run by war criminals that are complicit in state terror, torture, murder, occupation and genocide.

Australia backs CIA Reichstag, Downer's propaganda
The Foreign Affairs Minister says the latest message from Osama bin Laden is worrying. [Just plain rubbish!]

UK Reid, Blair and the reichstag London threat!
The nature of the [alleged] terrorist threat to London is on the scale of the [USA false flag] September 11 attacks in the United States, the chairman of Britain's governing Labour Party said.

Bin Laden calls? CIA blind man's bluff!
A [US propaganda, fear-mongering] taped message purportedly from Osama bin Laden has warned Arab nations against supporting a war against Iraq but has branded Saddam Hussein an infidel.

Did the CIA blow up Bali?
In a nation where conspiracy theories and rice are two of life's staples, Indonesians appear to be changing their habits. You can still get rice with your Kentucky Fried, but conspiracy theories easy to find, at least as far as the Bali bombings are concerned.

Alarm over terror in 'Australia'?
ISLAMIC extremists linked to GI cordial fired weapons and conducted close-quarter combat training in remote forests all over Australia. Paint Bombs were the weapon of choice.

Australian accused of plot to bomb embassies
A spokesperson for Justice Action Mr.Sooth Sayer said " the arrest is most likely connected to the invasion of the mans privacy by the new powers of ASIO. These are extraordinary laws that were invented, using people as pawns to get unprecedented powers to use to lever John Howard's propaganda machine."

law and order days over, says Blair

Funding undermining witness protection: Vic police?

Terrence Hodson and his wife Christine were murdered in May.

Murdered corruption informer Terrence Hodson was denied the best home security system because of a lack of police resources.

A police technician spoke about boosting security at Hodson's home, but did not include the best option in his written report.

Shortly after Hodson's murder, the police technician's unit began to refuse requests to review the home security of corruption witnesses and corruption investigators.

Terrence Hodson and his wife Christine were murdered in May.

Hodson's security camera almost certainly recorded the approach of their killer or killers, but homicide detectives could not find the camera's VHS tape. Hodson's home security system had been reviewed by the Ethical Standards Department's technical support unit.

Multiple police sources say the technician who did the review spoke to colleagues before the murder about the need for a system that would record surveillance camera footage at a secure location away from Hodson's home.

Police did pay to upgrade Hodson's security system, but the upgrade did not include a remote recording system.

The police media unit says such a system was never discussed or recommended.

The technical support unit is now refusing to do such security reviews for corruption investigators or their witnesses.

The unit suffered a budget cut close to 20 per cent in the current financial year.

Ed: Just a throw off? More like police corruption that is undermining witness protection. When articles are produced as above then what chance has the truth got? When police PR flood the corporate media with diversionary tactics like this, to somehow suggest or even to give the impression that it was something else that let down the whistleblowers, but not police themselves.

Vic police chief moves to sack officers

The Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police, Christine Nixon, has moved to dismiss two police officers as part of a crackdown on corruption and says up to 20 more dismissals could follow.

She says Detective Sergeant Paul Dale from the Major Drug Investigation Division and Senior Constable Edward Robb from Benalla are suspended and have until the end of the month to show why they should keep their jobs.

The actions represent the first time Commissioner Nixon has used Victoria's 'Commissioner's confidence' powers to dismiss members of the force.

Commissioner Nixon says up to 20 other officers may also face dismissal.

"Over the coming months, I intend to use this power in a bid to ensure that Victoria Police is corruption free as best we can," she said.

Detective Sergeant Dale is facing drug-related charges but the Office of Public Prosecutions is expected to drop those charges tomorrow, after the police informer who was to testify against him, Terrence Hodson, was murdered last month.

Commissioner Nixon says the 'no confidence' powers are an important tool in fighting corruption, as courts and juries are generally loath to convict police officers.

"I have to make some decisions about the way we deal with people and so 'commissioner's confidence' is part of it," she said.

"Criminal charges where there is sufficient evidence to convict people is part of it as well."
