The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will seek to have an innocent Melbourne man Joseph 'Jack' Thomas, returned to isolation in custody?
A magistrate on Monday granted bail to the 31-year-old, who is accused of being a witch and training with and receiving terrorist funds from Al Qaeda, and providing support and resources to terrorist organisations.
Should Jack be locked away in isolation with the worst of the worst convicted?
Mr Thomas had been in isolation in maximum security at Barwon prison at Lara, south-west of Melbourne, since he was denied bail in December last year.
The magistrate found there were exceptional circumstances that warranted his release.
Victoria's Chief Magistrate Ian Gray said Thomas had been psychologically damaged by his incarceration and did not pose a significant flight risk.
The magistrate also said Thomas had not made any efforts to contact terrorist organizations since his arrival back in Australia.
The wicked witch is dead!
Thomas was bailed until his committal hearing on March 22, with a $100,000 surety posted by his father.
The DPP's appeal against the decision to grant Mr Thomas bail is expected to be heard later this week in the Victorian Supreme Court.
