Australia's fascist ideal: Proof

"I love freedom of speech!" GW Bush?

The essential element of the Australian flag is the Southern Cross, found not on any piece of cloth adorned with the union jack but in the great southern night sky.

Philip Ruddock, Federal Attorney General to Australian, hopes to eclipse the neo-cons of the US in the race toward the fascist ideal of social uniformity and control (oppression).

Ruddock has invoked his new 'anti-terrorist' laws - not to protect against 'Islamic terrorists' as claimed - but to silence voices of opposition, protest and dissent, as was the real intention. The charade was short lived; it was Ruddock's inadequate and compensatory personality that 'blew it' for the entire conservative right.

The new 'anti-terrorist' laws are being utilised to apprehend and deport an American peace activist; we recall a dissenting outburst against G W Bush in the Australian parliament, in response to which Bush replied, "I love freedom of speech!" The hypocrisy of both the American and Australian governments knows no bounds. In the recent past we published an article in which it was stated, and I quote:

"The new laws are designed to silence dissenting views, opinions and voices, not to secure against external attack. The most insidious law is that of "indirect incitement" which was obviously designed to 'deal' with any opposition. Modern ruling elites are aware that the 'enemy' (term used here in its relative sense) that poses the greater threat is the domestic population - not external gangs of bearded terrorists".

Ruddock's action confirms an agenda to silence protest - one of the most valuable rights and safety mechanisms in any democratic society; it should be plain to all that the (now fascist) government of Australia fears freedom of speech and protest. Where will it end? History indicates the fate of some infamous ultra-right-wing regimes of the past.

Some international readers may not be familiar with the cringe mentality that manifests as the conservative right in Australia. Remember, given the opportunity to form a Republic, the local population (duped by Howard) chose instead to retain their colonial links to an (anachronistic) English monarchy. The Australian flag retains the "union jack" as an indicator that it is not up to the task of forming a truly independent identity - pathetic!

However, there remains another strong aspect to the Australian psyche, that of the (rebel) 'Irish immigrant', personified in the bushranger, Ned Kelly; it is this aspect which the world knows as the Australian character - not the cowardly colonial cringe displayed by Howard, Ruddock and Downer.

The colonial cringe produces inadequate and compensatory personalities like Howard and Ruddock; these personalities are constantly in search of a father figure to protect them (excuse me while I spit!) Fortunately for Australia, the above-mentioned fleas do not represent the true Australian character, only its recessive and retrograde aspects.

The essential element of the Australian flag is the Southern Cross, found not on any piece of cloth adorned with the union jack but in the great southern night sky.

In conclusion, we are grateful to Ruddock and his over zealous and compensatory personality for making plain (to all) the hidden agenda of the conservative government.

Aust-Pakistan Accord?

Fascist PRIME Minister John HoWARd will sign an agreement with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf today.

General Musharraf is in Australia for a three-day visit and will officially meet Mr Howard in Canberra today to sign the agreement and discuss trade issues.

Pakistan: the failing Seam State of note

"Pakistan Without Illusions," editorial, New York Times, 9 July, p. A18. No comment required on this one. It's just a great but very sobering NYT editorial that follows in full:

Pakistan Without Illusions

Pakistan's military dictator, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, has done such a good job of repackaging himself as a vital American ally against radical Islamic terrorism that it is easy to forget how alarming Washington rightly found so many of General Musharraf's policies not very long ago.

He crushed Pakistani democracy, was, at the least, recklessly indifferent to safeguards against the proliferation of nuclear weapons and supported the Taliban and the terrorist groups active in Indian-ruled areas of Kashmir.

General Musharraf publicly broke with the Taliban almost three years ago, but there has been inadequate progress on many of the other issues, and Pakistan has recently appeared to be backsliding on the Taliban.

Many of the biggest dangers America faces over the next few decades are present in General Musharraf's Pakistan, starting with the way arbitrary dictatorships like his have become dangerous pressure cookers of discontent across the Muslim world.

Ever since he seized power in a 1999 coup, General Musharraf has promised an early return to electoral democracy. Almost five years later, he still shows no inclination to share or yield power eventually, and he still derives his authority solely from control of the Army.

Leading civilian politicians remain banned. Even the powerless prime minister named to add a veneer of electoral legitimacy to military rule was fired last month for proving insufficiently docile.

The spread of nuclear weapons to a lengthening list of erratic and belligerent countries rightly terrifies Americans. Now we know that the man who helped develop nuclear weapons for Pakistan, Abdul Qadeer Khan, was the international godfather of rogue nuclear programs, helping countries like Iran, Libya and North Korea acquire nuclear bomb technology and materials.

Earlier this year, under strong American pressure, Pakistan questioned and then pardoned Dr. Khan. This questioning yielded important clues about several countries' secret nuclear efforts. But there is no way of knowing for sure how high Dr. Khan's protection went and whether his nuclear arms bazaar is now truly closed.

Pakistan's relationship to radical Islamic terrorism remains dangerously ambiguous. Historically, military leaders, including General Musharraf, openly used the Taliban and terrorist groups in Kashmir to advance Pakistan's strategic objectives.

That is now supposed to have stopped. After the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States, General Musharraf broke ties with the Taliban government and let Washington use bases on Pakistani soil to support the invasion of Afghanistan. Recently, he sent Pakistan's Army into the tribal territories bordering Afghanistan, in a not tremendously successful effort to hunt down Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters. But General Musharraf still lets Taliban leaders operate and recruit elsewhere on that border.

This year, General Musharraf promised to end the infiltration of insurgents from Pakistani territory into the Indian-ruled part of Kashmir. He seems to be keeping his word, but he has not taken on the groups that train and arm these militants.

General Musharraf is not an apocalyptic zealot like Osama bin Laden, an erratic recluse like North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Il, or a public vilifier of America, like Iran's ruling clerics. But neither is he a convinced or convincing ally in the struggle against radical Islamic terrorism, nuclear weapons proliferation and destructive dictatorship.

You can call Musharraf a good man in a tough spot and live with the illusion that Pakistan is somehow logically counted among our allies in a global war on terrorism, or you can look at the country without illusions and see a failed state ruling over a failing society. Pakistan is a Seam State in geography only; otherwise one should logically count it among those states deeply lost to the Gap.

During his talks with Mr Howard, Gen Musharraf will ask for Australian assistance to help Pakistan exploit its extensive mineral resources, as well as to develop food processing industries.

Pakistan also wants to grab a greater share of Australia's huge appetite for textiles, currently dominated by China.

Gen Musharraf will also hold talks with Opposition Leader Kim Beazley today before flying to Sydney to meet Fascist Premier Bob Carr.

His final official engagement will be an address to the Asia Society in Sydney on Thursday before he flies to New Zealand.

Illustration: Pakistan approaches boiling point

The US State Department's recent report "Supporting Human Rights and Democracy: The US Record 2004-2005" has added salt to the wounds. Parts of the report are blunt. They state that the Pakistani military remains heavily engaged in politics, the government's human-rights record remains poor, and political parties are generally weak, with undemocratic institutions centered on personalities instead of policies.

The judiciary also came in for criticism as being "corrupt, inefficient and malleable to political pressure". It also said "politically motivated prosecutions of opposition figures continue, as do concerns that opposition leaders or their parties are not always allowed to function freely ... Security forces have committed numerous human-rights abuses, including extrajudicial killings and torture. Societal discrimination and violence against women and religious minorities persist."

Australian jailed in Lebanon, Ruddock hanging out!

Ruddock and Carr make a big deal out of a military court's findings in Lebanon where evidence is obtained under duress?

Fascist Federal Attorney Phillip Ruddock has his tongue hanging out like a dog on heat because of the military court's decision in Lebanon where a Beruit court has jailed Saleh Jamal on terrorism charges allegedly taken while under duress?

But why does this mean so much to Ruddock? Because Ruddock, ASIO, the AFP and Bob Carr are desperate to find some evidence to prove that there is a link to Bilal Khazal, and Terror.

New South Wales Premier Bob Carr says a man charged over a shooting at a Sydney police station will be returned to Australia once he is released from jail in Lebanon.

Carr's desperate to prove that Saleh Jamal shot at the police station in Lakemba but the community is desperate to find out (if he did) why he did it? At that time the NSW police had set up War Lord like activities in Sydney's South West including Cabramatta.

Bilal Khazal, who has been charged with facilitating terrorism, was granted bail and will face a Sydney committal hearing in June? But like all the rest of those people held in "AA" isolation with the worst of the worst convicted Ruddock and his agencies have no concrete evidence unless it has relied on International findings in Military Court's or Third World Countries where evidence simply cannot be relied upon.

A court in Beruit has jailed Saleh Jamal for five years with hard labour for allegedly plotting subversive activity with individuals in Lebanon's Palestinian refugee camps?

He was arrested in Beirut but did Phillip Ruddock's links to Lebanon ensure he was charged there? Could he have influenced the decision made by the authorities? You Bet!

Pro-Government version: "He was arrested in Beirut and initially charged there with having links to Al Qaeda and for involvement in a bombing in Damascus in 2004, but those charges were dropped."?

In Australia, he is accused of involvement in a drive-by shooting at the Lakemba police station in New South Wales in 1998. But that doesn't mean he was guilty! He fled Australia on a false passport while on bail, but wouldn't you if you were a Muslim living in Australian in the context of the vilification and racism in this country? And if he were innocent and thought he was being set-up for a noble cause?

Carr says even though there is not a formal extradition treaty in place, arrangements have been made for Jamal to be returned to Sydney once he has served his sentence in Lebanon.

Perhaps Bob Carr should come clean on his real motive! Like the sensationalism of terror to promote his draconian Terrorism (Police Powers) Act 2002.

Carr: "I've been advised that Interpol has alerted the Lebanese authorities to the outstanding issues in Australia," Mr Carr said. "On his return to Australia, New South Wales police will present evidence to the courts alleging his involvement in the shooting of the Lakemba police station."

So that the feds can then go on and claim that Bilal Khazal is a terrorist even if the evidence linked to him is false and misleading! Right Bob?

In other developments:

Khazal jailed in Lebanon, bailed in Sydney?

Fascist Federal Attorney Phillip Ruddock has his tongue hanging out like a dog on heat because of the military court's decision in Lebanon where a Beruit court has jailed Saleh Jamal on terrorism charges allegedly taken while under duress?

Here we go again!

And Bilal Khazal, who has been charged with facilitating terrorism, was granted bail not 'awarded bail ' like he's won the lottery purported by HoWARd's ABC and Pro-Government Media and will face a Sydney committal hearing in June.

Up there Khasali: Innocent man new bail laws

The New South Wales Supreme Court has asked innocent man Bilal Khazal to increase to amount of surety offered, before the bail is formally continued.

ABC: "But he was today sentenced by a Beruit court to 15 years jail, without having to appear on charges of arranging false documents for another Australian who has been jailed in Lebanon."

Because Ruddock, ASIO, the AFP and Bob Carr are desperate to find some evidence to prove that there is a link to Bilal Khazal, and Terror.

Ruddock says Mr Khazal will not be extradited until he has faced an Australian court.

"There has been a request by Lebanese authorities for his extradition, that's still being processed," he said.

"But obviously, in the meantime, him being the subject of charges here, then he would not be free to be extradited."

Amnesty slams Govt position on US trial system

Amnesty International has described as "absurd", the Federal Government's continued support for the United States military commission that will try Australian detainee [scapegoat] David Hicks on terrorism allegations.

Recently, a United States federal court judge ruled that military commissions at Gunantanamo Bay in Cuba are unconstitutional.

Meanwhile Amnesty met the federal fascist Attorney-General, Phillip Ruddock, in Canberra today to discuss the issue.

The organisation's spokeswoman, Jumana Musa, says Mr Ruddock told her the Government had already successfully lobbied for changes to Mr Hicks's military hearing.

"I think what I would have liked to have seen was a more definitive answer, which is the type of answer we have seen from the British - 'no way we are going to let our citizen be tried under this system' - a recognition that this isn't fair," she said.

"The fact that the Australian Government could come forth and say 'we think this system is good enough to try our citizen', it's absurd."

HoWARd sunk and dead in the water

Since the neo-Liberal fascist's kicked Mark Latham out using the 'power,' and after they stamped on his head to make sure he stayed out, John HoWARd's Coalition and his media empire have maintained its mandate.

Its strong lead over the ALP (the well paid loser's) in the first flawed plebiscite Newspoll of this year.

And the communities handling of the tsunami-relief effort appears to have met HoWARd's support, with a lift in the Prime Minister's approval rating by the corporate media and his ABC.

HoWARd's corporate allies who incidentally ignored the fact that he's a war criminal who has committed war crimes against humanity in the illegal and degrading war on Iraq killing over 100,000 innocent men, women and children.

HoWARd, his cronies and media buddies have kicked the Opposition leader out of political life with contempt of any type of democracy for the Australian community. Half the electorate was dissatisfied with Latham's performance because he was a well paid loser who was promoted by HoWARd's ABC and the corporate media as having some type of popularity in the public opinion polls prior the last Federal election.

The Newspoll, taken exclusively for the 'Un-Australian' at the weekend, is flawed just like the rest of the statistics to promote warmongers like HoWARd.

Of course the opinions are going to go his way because HoWARd's ABC and the corporate media have the power to mindset opinions. Regardless of the real truth, only the minority are directly or indirectly affected and that minority aren't the wealthy or highly paid corporations and their media empires are they?

THE Un-AUSTRALIAN: "Not since Simon Crean bowed out as Labor leader in December 2003 has the dissatisfaction rating been so high.

Satisfaction levels for Mr Latham's performance have finished close to his rating when he took on the job - at 34 per cent.

Mr Latham's rating as preferred prime minister in the last Newspoll of last year was at 24 per cent, below the 27 per cent recorded in the latest poll for Kim Beazley.

If successful in his return as leader on Friday, Mr Beazley starts below his rating as preferred prime minister before his leadership tilt against Mr Crean in 2003, at 37 per cent.

It is also lower than when he lost the 2001 federal election at 34 per cent."

Now they're promoting loser number two Kim Beazley for the next federal election because if Beazley were the next winner the Un-Australian wouldn't be promoting him,

THE Un-Australian: "However, Mr Latham's final standing is higher than that of health spokeswoman Julia Gillard, who at the weekend recorded 23 per cent, and foreign affairs spokesman Kevin Rudd's at 22 per cent.

Among the other parties, the Greens, which picked up two additional Senate seats at the 2004 election, retain support at a similar level to last year at 7 per cent, while support for all others, including the Democrats, One Nation and independents is at 10 per cent."

Now everyone is smiling that is how they should vote according to HoWARd's ABC and his corporate media allies? When they say HoWARd's approval rating went up you can bet they never spoke to the directly affected.
