Education systems in free cities and regions must be very different to those of nation states. It is not just the methods of encouraging learning that will distinguish education in free cities from that of nation states, but the truth that the knowledge is rooted in. There is no point in swotting to pass examinations in subject knowledge that is wrong. Yet, that is exactly what young people in state education systems are doing. Neither they, or their parents, or their teachers realise this fact, but it remains the case.

US-Australian 'Free Raid Agreement' and Labor's Ploy?

Allegedly speculation is rife in political circles about whether the Senate will follow the lead of the US Congress, and approve a 'free trade deal' [? Free Raid Deal], with the United States?

[Australia invades Iraq with the Coalition of the Killing and gets a free trade agreement with the USA in return. Black Money. Or should I say, with all the killing's, Red Money!]

What a sham! This is a ploy by Labor who, no doubt, who will approve the 'Free Raid Agreement' after Australia has spent Millions with the coalition of the killing occupying Iraq!

The US Senate was 'allegedly' undecided yet it quickly approved the FTA, although as Matt Kaye reports, not everybody was happy with the deal?

"After the US house overwhelmingly approved the trade deal, the US Senate moved quickly to pass it and send it to President Bush for signature. Some, including North Dakota Democrat Byron Dorgan voted no."

"There's almost no export benefits for our cattle and beef producers in this country with this free trade agreement, given Australia's relatively small population, its very large cattle herd."

"While Tennessee Republican Lamar Alexander echoed the views of most senators on Australia."

"Our relationship can only grow stronger with this agreement. It's good for us, it's good for them."

"Alexander pointed out the deal will generate some $2 billion or more in new trade for both countries by 2010."

In Australia, Greens Leader Bob Brown says doesn't think there's enough support yet to defeat the trade deal in the Senate. But he says his party is planning a long-term campaign of resistance against it

"Well our position is totally opposed to the FTA on a range of counts; it's just not in Australia's interests, whether you look at the economical, environmental or social outcomes.

We're going to campaign against it all the way down the line to the Senate vote and on to the election.

"Australians do have a choice; they don't have to have rubber-stamping by the big parties."

And the Australian Democrats say they'll strongly oppose the agreement.

Agriculture spokesman, John Cherry says Australians should be deeply suspicious about its benefits, given the US Congress called it a 'slam dunk' for the country, and passed it with the biggest margin in history.

"We think the negotiating side let Australia down.

"It wasn't just the sugar producers; they let down a whole range of people by not negotiating hard enough.

"The fact that the US Congress has acknowledged this agreement is unambiguously in favour of the US, should make Australians very suspicious about this agreement."

Labor says it won't make a decision on whether to support the FTA until a Senate inquiry report is released on August 12?

But Australian's are not stupid? Labor won't take power without accepting the Free Raid Agreement. Labor are not unlike the Liberal Coalition when it comes to having to pay for the Australian forces (imperialist raid on Iraqi oil) and the Democrats and the Greens haven't got the support to defeat the 'Raid Deal' in the Senate without Labor's support.

What really upsets most Australians though is the fact that both the Labor and Liberal Coalition treat the community with contempt when they suggest that they need to look at the details of the agreement to see if it is in Australia's interests?

As though the community don't have the knowledge to know that this is just a 'ploy' to make the deal easier to accept and to pass. Like it was looked at and justified.

When in fact it was a 'ploy': Stated by both the US Senate and the Australian Senate about "whether the Senate's in both the US and Australia will approve a free trade deal" with the United States

Take Action to Stop the US-Australia Free Trade Agreement?

The Australian Government has signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the USA that undermines fundamental social, cultural, environmental and democratic protection's which we all enjoy. Former Liberal Party federal president John Valder says Prime Minister John Howard should be tried and punished for war crimes over Australia's involvement in the Iraq conflict.

Mr Valder was speaking at a forum on the impact of the war in Iraq, held on Sunday at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Mr Valder says there is no justification for invading Iraq simply to get rid of its leader. "By any standard that is a massive crime and the people who perpetrated it - being President [George W] Bush, Tony Blair and John Howard - as such are guilty of extreme crime and they should be dealt with," he said.

Mr Valder admits he is not sure how it should be dealt with and is doubtful it will ever happen, but he says he has no doubt that their actions were criminal. "It has certainly divided me far away from John Howard's policy of taking Australia into a war that was an act of absolute aggression," he said.

"There's no getting away from it, that's what it was. If people do that sort of thing on a grand international scale, they've got to expect to be punished."
