How's this for sedition?

The latest legislative threat to our freedoms is worthy of contempt, writes Chas Savage.

Edmund Burke, who declared the tyranny of bad laws, was a deep political thinker and a ferocious polemicist. In 1777, he wrote to the Sheriffs of Bristol that the true danger to freedom was when liberty was nibbled away, for expedience, and by parts.

We should wish that 1777 is now, and that Burke was writing to our prime minister. Perhaps then John Howard would be less reckless in his pursuit of additional security powers and more concerned about the damage his legislation will do to important traditions of free association, opinion and debate.

I declare, therefore, that I write the following with open, seditious intention.

The Federal Government proposes to amend the Crimes Act 1914 so as to be able to jail any body of persons, incorporated or unincorporated, which by its constitution or propaganda or otherwise, advocates or encourages the doing of any act having or purporting to have as an object the carrying out of a seditious intention.

Seditious intention means an intention to bring the sovereign into hatred or contempt; or to urge disaffection against the constitution; the government of the Commonwealth; either house of the Parliament; to urge another person to attempt, otherwise than by lawful means, to procure a change to any matter established by law in the Commonwealth; and to promote feelings of ill-will or hostility between different groups so as to threaten the peace, order and good government of the Commonwealth.

Just so it is clear, I urge all Australians to hold the sovereign and her heirs and successors with hatred and contempt. Lecherous, callow, adulterous; inbreed, exclusive and foreign; they remind us that, by them, we are made no democratic people. Because they are appointed by bloodline, and because talent, accomplishment and merit enter not into the question of their position and the prominence accorded to them, they exist as proof that government can be degraded by the powerful in service of their own interests. As such, they deserve our democratic hatred and contempt. [Ruling Class?]

I openly urge disaffection with the constitution. Concerned with matters of commerce, and gerrymandered to protect states instead of individuals, the Australian constitution serves a reduced purpose poorly. Under this constitution a High Court can rule that a man, charged with and guilty of no crime, can be locked up indefinitely.

Under this constitution, rights are left to the mercy of predators such as Howard and expedient windbags like Beazley. The Australian constitution enables the government to spend without constraint to serve its own political interest. As such, it deserves the disaffection of decent, democratic people.

I openly urge disaffection with the Government of the Commonwealth. Its leaders behave with the morality of the gangster. They are shameless in their pursuit of their own self-interest and in the efforts they make to maintain their control on power. They plunder the public purse to benefit their own careers and to maintain their own grip on power. They reward incompetence and cruelty; they themselves behave incompetently and cruelly.

Moreover, they work not to strengthen democratic practice but to strangle it. The good health of a democracy depends on the engagement of informed citizens. In turn, a citizenry is made informed by public debate, between parties of opposing views. John Stuart Mill, who once was precious to the Liberal Party, made it clear that diversity of opinion was not an evil, but a good. This gang, however, chooses to debate laws bearing on matters of our freedom behind closed doors, and then ambush a compliant parliament.

I openly urge disaffection with both houses of the Parliament. They have become an imperial court, tending to their own affairs before and above all else. Indifferent to matters of good policy, they are focused on the gaining and distribution of positions of power. Houses of Parliament? - our democratic houses are now foul, muddy and stinking - no better than sties. Our Parliament also deserves the disaffection of decent, democratic people.

I have read the proposed anti-terrorist bill and see that reference is made to sayings and acts done in good faith. I make as clear as possible, in terms as unambiguous as possible, that in urging disaffection - and hatred and contempt - I am motivated by no sense of good faith whatsoever.

Instead, I am prompted by a sense of malice and ill-will and seek to create a maximum level of public discontent, disorder and disturbance.

Because I do not want to see liberty nibbled at, I urge an association of Australian men and women to act mightily, with seditious intention, against the sovereign and against the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia.

or advocate, teach, defend, or suggest the doing of any of the acts or things in this section enumerated and whoever shall by word or act support or favor the cause of Australia with which Australia is at an illegal war with or by word or act does not oppose the illegal and degrading war of Australia therein, shall be punished by imprisonment for a quick maximum of up to 700 years....

Aussie's fate over the edge as violence spreads

THE illegal and degrading war on Iraq by the occupiers, the US- led military and its Coalition of the Killing partners, is a hotbed for freedom fighters, against the occupation (of their sovereign nation). And it is continuing to get worse.

The fate of Australian hostage Douglas Wood is still unclear as bitter fighting and a wave of suicide bombings engulfs the western part of the country.

The tide of renewed violence yesterday claimed its victims in the two weeks since the swearing-in of Iraq's puppet government, as three huge suicide bombs detonated across the country.

A car bomber exploded in a vehicle in the city of Tikrit, formerly belonging to Iraq and now occupied by the US/Iraq puppet government, killing more than 27 people in a crowd of Shiite migrant workers, and wounding 60.

Southwest of the disputed northern city of Kirkuk, a suicide bomber struck at a US/Iraqi army recruitment centre in Hawija, killing 30 and wounding 25.

And a suicide bomber targeted a police station in Baghdad's Dora district, killing four people and injuring dozens.

Some strategic planners regard this surge in violence as evidence a lot of Iraqi's are against the US led occupiers and that crucial days of the struggle for the country were always there, accept now it's overwhelming. The resistance network has grown because of the abuse of many Iraqis by the Coalition of the Killing which, includes random killings, home invasions, failing to count the dead, destroying their homes, infrastructure, resources, and reckless indifference to international laws and human rights standards.

Sources say, top lieutenants of the senior terror leader Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi (another 'demon') have been caught by the US/Iraqi military. Supply lines have been cut and key communications intercepted.

But other sources say, that Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi is just another invisible demon. Never bin seen or caught by the them, but who has provided the Coalition with all the excuses in the world - for their continued terror campaign. This propaganda (figment of their 'own' imagination) has been used in Iraq ever since the capture of Saddam Hussain.

A little like (where's he bin, Bin Laden) for the US led war on Afghanistan and it makes you wonder who will be the next invisible demon, for the excuse, to terrorise another sovereign nation down the track. Doesn't it? It also make you wonder about the US led Coalition of the Killings 'multiple personality disorder'.

One sign the crisis is still the same as it was, is the continued outbreak of desperate political kidnappings by groups such as the Freedom Fighters and Resistance Council, which now holds Douglas Wood.

These hostage-taking operations form part of the greater conflict, as resistance tested one of the many avenues there are, to break the will of the US-led occupation forces.

Early yesterday, fighters loyal to another (Invisible demon) seized the newly appointed Governor of the western Anbar province, Raja Al-Nawaf. They said he would be released only if US forces pulled out of Al-Qaim, the Iraqi town on the border with Syria that is the focus of the largest US military campaign of the past six months.

A Japanese security guard was taken, alive but seriously injured, after a big Western convoy crossing Anbar province was destroyed this week. The kidnappers, members of the resistant 'Iraqi population' group, called for Japan to withdraw its troops from Iraq in return for the life of 44-year-old Akihiko Saito.

According to Western security sources, hostage-taking is now the key weapon of the freedom fighters in their last-ditch fight to defeat the new puppet government in Baghdad.

Political support for the resistance fighters cause is growing exponentially amongst Iraqis and the rest of the world, who are now reluctant to validate or participate in the occupation, of Iraq, by the US led Coalition of the Killing.

The Coalition has killed, maimed, tortured and injured over 100, 000 innocent men, women and children - described as collateral damage by the occupiers who - failed to even bother counting the dead.

Prominent puppet Sunni leaders are committed to taking part in a fresh round of elections next year with the support of the US and its killing partners.

But the latest phase of intensified suicide bombings also suggests an even stronger campaign by the freedom fighters, who are clearly attempting to target anyone assisting the US/Iraqi occupiers and those who support the puppet US/Iraqi administration.

The US attack on Anbar marks the last step in an elaborate scheme to kill of any resistance in its hotbed in the Iraqi sovereign nation, and then mop up the key supply routes out towards the Syrian border.

The Coalition of the Killing claimed that at least 100 militants have been killed in the past week (even though they don't count the dead) and the scale of the conflict is described as fierce. Only US troops are involved in the fighting, and few details are being provided, but those released are telling.

US briefers describe sharp conflicts extending between Ramadi and the Syrian border near Al-Qaim. The resistance are said to be well armed, wearing protective vests and uniforms, and to be more highly trained than most freedom fighters in Iraq.

The strong implication is that these are Iraq's and their friends who have been deployed from resistance camps all over Iraq.

Martial law on all movements near the region has been imposed. Security is tighter than ever on border roads leading into Iraq from Jordan and Syria, and special commando squads of the new Iraqi armed forces have been deployed into the desert terrain surrounding the Euphrates valley.

This is the context of the continuing threat surrounding the life of the Australian hostage: the future of Douglas Wood is tied to that of the country he hoped to help rebuild.

Downer floats media tip-off scenario in Baghdad blast

US foreigner, war criminal, Alexander Downer says he is investigating whether the media was tipped-off ahead of yesterday's car bomb attack on an Australian military convoy in Iraq.

[Satire: Yes I got a call 24 hours earlier but I was told not to tell US foreigner, and war criminal, Alexander Downer or I wouldn't get another tip off.]

Two more innocent Iraqis were killed and three Australian occupiers were injured by the explosion in Baghdad.

The blast occurred about 350 metres from the Australian embassy and one of the hotels where many journalists are based.

This won't be the first time Australian occupiers will come under direct attack it is clear they were deliberately targeted because of the occupation, genocide, maiming and torture.

US foreigner, war criminal, Downer has said the Government had no warning of the blast but others may have. The rule is of course that occupiers get told after the bomb goes off.

Downer: "There's something that we are investigating which is that the media - some elements of the media, were on the site apparently within two minutes of the bomb going off," he said.

"Now there are some explanations for that."

"One of them is that the media may have just been nearby by coincidence.

"Another explanation is that somebody in the media was tipped-off about this and that was how they got there as quickly as they did."

Well Downer now you know that losers get told last!

Specific target?

The Community says it is sure the attack specifically targeted Australian/US occupiers.

Downer says he does not know who was responsible for the attack.

But that's just so ignorant because everyone else knows it would be Iraqi resistance and that they would want their sovereignty back. I mean how dumb is this US puppet?

Downer: "The three Aslav vehicles were not taking the route they would normally take," he said.

"Now you might be able to conclude from that that they weren't particularly being targeted, just perhaps more coalition forces broadly defined were being targeted."

Probably the wrong place 'Iraq' at the wrong time?

Defence, [War], Minister, war criminal, Robert Hill has also played down speculation that resistance targeted Australian occupiers.

"There are many, many military vehicles on the roads, basically 24 hours-a-day in and out of Baghdad," he said.

"There have been, as we all know, a considerable number of incidents of this type. In this instance the Australian vehicles were attacked."

A US army militant who witnessed the blast offered a different interpretation of events.

"It was an Iraqi taxi cab and it parked on the side of the road there, waited for a target which was obviously the Australians and they blew up," he said.
