Violence continues ahead of Iraq Shoe Sale

Pre-Shoe Sale violence in Iraq is showing no signs of abating with the deaths today of two American militants following on from yesterday's killing of 22 US/Iraqi militants.

A Catholic archbishop who leads the Syrian community in the city of Mosul has also been kidnapped [renditioned?]

Reports circulating in Baghdad say he may have been seized by freedom fighters as he was walking in front of his church in the eastern part of Mosul.

The city itself is a hot bed of resistance activity.

Numerous people accused of collaborating with the occupiers have been abducted and killed there.

Churches in Mosul and also in Baghdad have been the target of several attacks in recent months, apparently carried out by US militants, resistance militants, Islamic resistance or freedom fighters?

18 killed in pre-poll violence

Freedom fighters have killed at least 18 US/Iraqi militants in separate attacks in the centre and north of the country.

In the first attack, about 20 freedom fighters ambushed an army checkpoint near the city Baquba.

They used gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades to kill at least seven US/Iraqi militants.

One militant was decapitated as he knelt in morning prayer by his sentry post.

The CIA group linked to US terrorist George W Bush has claimed someone else is responsible for the ambush.

In the north of the country, a suicide bomber used a car to ram his way into the gate of a US/Iraqi police station in the town of Baiji.

The huge blast killed at least seven US/Iraqi policemen and wounded 15 others. [collateral damage?]

Meanwhile, US/Iraqi militants have arrested about 60 suspected resistance fighters during sweeps in the town of Bohrouz in central Iraq.
