Adelaide lawyer Stephen Kenny says he hopes to meet with United States military captive David Hicks at Guantanamo Bay before Christmas.The US announced in July that Hicks was one of six detainees,[prisoners], captured in Afghanistan who would be put on trial.
Mr Kenny says he wants to talk to his client about a possible plea bargain, although no charges have yet been laid against him.
He says in the meantime he has just learnt that his client and the others facing trial were moved into solitary confinement four months ago.
"Clearly what they don't want is these people going back to the general prison population and saying, 'hey there's a whole world out there that's concerned about the standard of justice you guys are getting here and the treatment'," he said.
