Happy mothers day: Single mums forced to work!

AUSTRALIA can no longer sustain its warfare system, but can sustain the social dollar and that depends on where your priorities are? USA/Iraq or Australia?

Costello's priorities!

But but, but, not without significant structural change, by the fascist treasurer, Pastor Peter Costello, as he flagged a raft of budget "weapons" to force workforce participation which would include no doubt getting you signed up for the military when there are no other options?

Outlining the themes of his 10th budget -- but the first where the Coalition will have control of the Senate -- Peter Costello said, that one of his guiding philosophies was to ensure the Government delivered rewards by helping more Australians back to work.

But his rewards are more like weapons because they are designed to form the grand illusion that new policies will fix the problem they have of forcing people to work, so the social dollars can now be spent on military hardware and warfare.

You get one set of policies before the election and another set of policies after the election. Trust John HoWARd.

Living wage cuts

Single mothers, pensioners, and people on the dole have already been slugged by Costello with a $300 Medicare 'levy' then an additional $200 Medicare levy, making it a $500 Medicare levy on top of the GST. That comes straight out of their living wage every year.

A cut in the unpopular superannuation surcharge for 600,000 high-income earners from 10 per cent to 7.5 per cent is also on the cards after it was rejected by the Senate last year.

And delivering tax cuts remains a key, although the treasurer was tightlipped about offering further relief on Tuesday, particularly in the face of a concerted business campaign to cut the top marginal rates.

"I always try and keep taxes as low as possible," Costello said. "You should try and keep your incentives as good as they can be."

But on top of the illusionary budget weapons, we understand the budget will contain draconian measures likely to draw heavy flak from welfare groups.

Stealing hubcaps for a living?

Those on unemployment benefits will face a 48-hour payment suspension immediately if they fail to attend job interviews. Cut out of their living wage?

Thousands of welfare recipients also face an eight-week suspension of payments under a "three-strikes-and-you're-out" policy, to be policed by Centrelink.

"Some people will run around and say this is about saving money. It is not. Actually, it is about spending money. It is mostly focused on incentives," Costello said.

Yes and some people will turn to crime and others will go to jail if they get caught, trying to survive? What you have to weigh up Pete is do you put the family first? the community first,? Or the war first? How much will it cost NSW taxpayers to send one person who stole a loaf of bread to jail?

The budget would also contain a raft of measures to "encourage skills and skilled labour", amid concerns of an economy-wide labour crisis and the governments failure to acknowledge this problem before it was too late.

Corporate welfare

Further tax cuts, including for those on the two highest marginal rates, 42c and 47c, have been actively considered after pressure from business to reduce the burden?

The Government has already promised to move the threshold at which the top rate comes in from $70,001 to $80,001, and the second-highest rate from $58,001 to $63,001.

Family First?

But its central message will be "forcing the poor, disadvantaged, and underprivileged to work"; with the Community warning that the changes are being made to cut out the social dollar for military hardware and warfare expenditure.

Costello the funny fellow said, it was "absolutely essential" to kick-start the reform process, but acknowledged the reforms would produce only minimal results in the early years.

Yeah! 300 Million a year to send troops to Iraq half a world away!

HoWARd 'determined' to make the disabled woRK?
The Federal Government is considering a system of "coercion" and incentive to force the disabled to work. But what happened to 6 billion-budget surpluses? Why do they need to force disabled people to work? Do they need more money and less disabled people? Or do would they rather spend the money on WAR?

Opposition pension claims valid
The Federal Governments secret agenda to cut pensions, including the disability and single parent payments while spending billions on military hardware is just too much for most disabled people to accept.

Work for the dole is legal slavery
Work for the dole was originally sold to us by Howard as a warm and fuzzy light work project. We would be working for nothing but we would be enjoying giving back something to the community, so it was reckoned.
