Fiji's Vice-President, Ratu Jope Seniloli, has resigned.
Mr Jope has handed in his resignation at a meeting with Fiji's President and Prime Minister in Suva.
News of Ratu Jope's resignation was expected moments after Attorney-General Qoriniasi Bale approved the Vice-President's compulsory supervision order application and released him from jail last Friday.
Now that his letter of resignation has been tendered a process will begin in finding a successor .
Under Fiji's Constitution, the country's Council of Chiefs will submit the name for endorsement by Fiji's President Ratu Josepha Iloilo.
